1938 – 2003

LEWISTON – Nelson H. “Jack” Frost, 65, of Crowley Road, Lewiston, died Thursday, Dec. 11, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion following a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Webster on Oct. 1, 1938, the son of John and Bernice Hallowell Frost. He attended Sabattus schools, and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1956.

After graduating, he was enlisted in the United States Navy from 1956 through 1966 on the USS Lexington, and served two terms in Vietnam. His rank was 2nd Class and he was a machinery repairman.

He was employed at Met-Craft Machine Shop as a machinist for many years, retiring in 2000. He was a “jack of all trades,” able to build or fix anything.

He was a self-taught guitar player. He loved music and played in several bands over the years. He enjoyed working with heavy equipment, and was especially proud of the home he built.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, the former Kathy Dehetre; two daughters, Brandi Frost, and Judy Frost Anderson; two sons, Nelson Frost Jr. and his wife Crystal, and Michael Frost; two step children, Paul DeHayes, and Sue DeHayes Bouyea; two sisters, Carmen Thompson, and Clara Hahn and her husband Jack; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and one son, Jack Frost.
