1914 – 2003

SOUTH PARIS – Blanche Delia Peavey Nelson, 89, of Wilton, died early Friday morning, Dec. 19, at the Market Square Health Care Center where she has been a resident for the past two years.

She was born in Palermo on Nov. 1, 1914, a daughter of Chester and Jessie (Dyar) Peavey. She graduated from Liberty High School.

On Feb. 16, 1935, she married, Manley E. Nelson in Wilton where they made their home on Highland Ave. Mrs. Nelson worked at G.H. Bass in Wilton starting in 1953 until her retirement in 1980.

She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Wilton as well as the Wilton Senior Citizens. She also served as the Wilton Girl Scout Leader.

She very much enjoyed her involvement in the community as well as bowling in the Senior Citizen League and working in her flower garden.

She is survived by a son, Richard Nelson and his wife Sandra of Wilton; a daughter, Joyce Palmer and her husband Kurt of Norway; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Palmer of Norway, Jim Palmer and his wife Norma of Norway, Richard Nelson and his wife JoEllen of Wilton, and Rebecca Jean Nelson of Farmington; a great-grandson, Jonathan Palmer of Norway.

She was predeceased by her husband; and a sister, Beatrice Wood.
