LEWISTON – Students from Barry Rodrigue’s Western Civilization class at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College are working on a solidarity project that aims to raise awareness for an organization that concerns Western Civilization.

The class agreed to support Seeds of Peace by starting a campaign called “Pennies for Peace.” The goal is to create awareness and raise $2,500, enough to send one teenager to the camp in Otisfield.

Students are accepting donations by mail, or they may also be made in the “Pennies for Peace” jars in local businesses. Make checks payable to Pennies for Peace and mail to Pennies for Peace, USM LAC, Celia Whitten, C/O Barry Rodrigue, 51 Westminster St., Lewiston, ME 04240.
