1916-2004
LEWISTON – Helen Buchonis, 87, of 11 Frechette Ave., died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 4, at her home.
She was born in Portland on June 1, 1916, the daughter of Felix and Eva (Diringis) Kazlauskas. She worked for Bates Manufacturing Co. in Lewiston and later for Edwards Manufacturing Co. in Augusta for several years until her retirement in 1979. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family and friends, and candlepin bowling where she had won the Maine State Championship.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Mildred Diringis of Lewiston; her brother-in-law Leon Rice of California; her many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, one brother Annison Diringis, and one sister Ann Rice.
