BUFFALO, N.Y. – Martin Biron made 44 saves and Alexei Zhitnik scored a power-play goal in the second period to help the Buffalo Sabres tie the Philadelphia Flyers 1-1 on Wednesday night.

John LeClair scored for Philadelphia, and Robert Esche stopped 20 shots. The Atlantic Division-leading Flyers finished their eight-game road trip 2-3-2-1.

LeClair opened the scoring with his ninth goal, and first in six games, a minute into the second. Taking the puck toward the net from the left circle, LeClair put a shoulder move on Biron before going around the net and jamming the puck in on a wraparound.

Coyotes 3, Capitals 0

WASHINGTON – Brian Boucher became the first NHL goalie in almost 55 years to record four consecutive shutouts, making 27 saves in the Phoenix Coyotes’ 3-0 victory over Washington on Wednesday night.

The last goalie with four straight shutouts was Montreal’s Bill Durnan, who accomplished the feat from Feb. 26-March 6, 1949. Boucher stretched his shutout streak to 265:45, and trails only Durnan’s modern-era NHL record of 309:21, also set in 1949.

Penguins 4, Devils 2

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Jean-Sebastien Aubin made 31 saves in Pittsburgh’s 4-2 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night, the Penguins’ third road win of the season.

Mike Eastwood, Ryan Malone, Eric Meloche and Matt Bradley scored to help Pittsburgh to its first road victory since Nov. 14 in Buffalo. The Penguins also snapped a four-game losing streak.

Aubin came up strong in the third period, stopping 14 of 15 shots. He made a spectacular diving glove save on Eric Rasmussen with 33.6 seconds remaining to preserve the victory.

Wild 7, Blackhawks 4

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Eric Chouinard scored two goals and Minnesota broke out of its offensive slump with a franchise-record seven goals in a 7-4 victory over Chicago on Wednesday night.

Chouinard scored his first goals for the Wild since coming to Minnesota last month in a trade with Philadelphia. He has five goals this season.

Dwayne Roloson stopped 15 of 16 shots in relief of Manny Fernandez, who allowed three goals on 13 shots.

Heat 102, Bulls 95

MIAMI – Eddie Jones scored 27 points and Lamar Odom added 25 as the Miami Heat, coming off their lowest-scoring game of the season, held off the Chicago Bulls 102-95 Wednesday night.

The Heat, who lost 87-65 to Indiana on Monday, topped the 100-point mark for the fifth time and won for the sixth time in nine games. Bulls rookie Ronald Dupree was impressive in his NBA debut, scoring a team-high 18 points.

Raptors 75, Cavaliers 69

TORONTO – Vince Carter scored 11 of his 14 points in the final eight minutes, including a clinching windmill dunk with 21 seconds left in the Toronto Raptors’ 75-69 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night.

Carter was 1-for-12 from the field and hadn’t scored since the first quarter before putting Toronto ahead on a 3-pointer with 7:34 left.

After LeBron James missed a jumper with less than a minute left, Alvin Williams grabbed the rebound and found Carter downcourt for a dunk that gave Toronto a 73-67 lead.

76ers 100, Clippers 80

PHILADELPHIA – Allen Iverson scored 20 points and the Philadelphia 76ers reached 100 points for the first time in nearly two months, defeating the Los Angeles Clippers 100-80.

Iverson and Glenn Robinson combined for 16 points during a 21-5 run to start the third quarter that gave the Sixers a 17-point lead. With Iverson on the bench in the fourth quarter, the Clippers were able to cut the deficit to 11.

But a series of turnovers led to a 17-4 run by Philadelphia that put the game out of reach. The 76ers outscored the Clippers 53-34 in the second half and scored 100 for the first time since Nov.

Pistons 85, Rockets 66

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Richard Hamilton scored 16 points to lead the Detroit Pistons to a 85-66 win over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night in a matchup of two of the NBA’s top defensive teams.

Houston had its lowest point total of the season as Detroit extended its NBA record of holding teams under 100 points to 38 straight games.

The Pistons won their seventh straight game, their longest winning streak in nearly 12 years, and the longest current streak in the league.

Bucks 95, Suns 87

MILWAUKEE – Michael Redd scored 23 points, including 13 in the third quarter, and the Milwaukee Bucks extended their winning streak to a season-high four games with a 95-87 victory Wednesday night over the new-look Phoenix Suns. The Bucks hadn’t beaten Phoenix since Nov. 12, 1999.

Hornets 97, Wizards 87

NEW ORLEANS – Baron Davis had 28 points and 10 assists and David Wesley broke out of a slump with 20 points to lead the New Orleans Hornets over the Washington Wizards 97-87 Wednesday night.

Wesley, who scored a total of 13 points and shot only 21 percent in his previous two games, was 7-of-13 – including three 3-pointers.
