SACO – James E. Stearn, 92, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 7, at the Monarch Center where he had been a resident.

Born in Hartford, Conn., the son of Charles S. and Martha Lewis Stearn. He attended Hartford Public High School graduating in 1928. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and obtained the rank of Sergeant.

He attended Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., graduating in 1932, and later Harvard. He married Eleanor Brown on Oct. 6, 1942, she died May 29, 1971. He later married Louise Monico on Oct. 21, 1977, she died Aug. 24, 1984. He worked as the Assistant Chief Tax Examiner of the state of Connecticut, prior to his retirement.

He is survived by two sons, Martin E. Stearn and his wife Diatra of Pacoima, Calif., James A. (Tony) Stearn and his wife Joanne of Lisbon Falls; a daughter, Susan Moore and her husband James of Lincoln, N.H.; a sister, Marian Cooper of Boulder, Colo.; and five grandchildren.
