1921 – 2004

FARMINGTON – Leda L. Slovak, 82, a longtime resident of Baldwin Street in Livermore Falls, died Friday, Jan. 9, at the Edgewood Manor Nursing Home where she had been a resident for a year and a half. She had previously resided at Parkview Nursing Home in Livermore Falls for over a year.

She was born in Jay on June 13, 1921, the daughter of Frank and Mary Frola Slovak. She attended Jay schools and in 1976, received her GED from Livermore Falls High School. She worked for Bass Shoe Co. in Wilton in the office, retiring in 1983.

She was a volunteer for many years at the Parkview Nursing Home in Livermore Falls, donating her time to help with bingo games and the prayer groups. She was an active member of the Jay-Livermore Falls Senior Citizens, where she enjoyed her many trips with the group. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay and a member of the Daughters of Isabella.

She is survived by her close and loyal friend, Blanche Newell of Livermore Falls; a sister, Mary Groleau of Livermore Falls; a brother, Joseph Slovak and his wife Dora of Jay; a sister-in-law, Margaret Slovak of Livermore Falls; and a brother-in-law, Richard Bryant of Jay.

She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Slovak; and two sisters, Hattie Bryant and Bessie Henry.
