LEWISTON – The staff of Rainbow Federal Credit Union and Rainbow members allowed the credit union to present $2,500 to area food pantries.

Each year credit unions throughout the state, through the coordination of the Maine Credit Union League, work to end hunger. This past year alone the efforts generated revenues exceeding $200,000 to help those in need of food.

Rainbow’s staff participated in a variety of events throughout the year, including raffles and the sale of merchandise to credit union’s members.

Checks were presented to the following organizations: Good Shepherd Food-Bank, St. Martins de Porres, Hope Haven Gospel Mission, Rural Community Action Ministry, Oxford Hills Food Pantry and the Vineyard Christian Fellowship.

Rainbow Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1956 and has five offices and branches in Lewiston, Auburn, Mechanic Falls and South Paris.
