LEWISTON – The National Association of Retired Federal Employees will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Ramada Inn when Margaret Ross, RN, retired as director of Maine Medicaid Surveillance and Utilization Review, will be the speaker.

She is a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Portland and was the director of nursing at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston in the 1970s and 1980s.

During her state service as a Medicaid division director she participated in efforts to identify and deter misuse and abuse in the health care system, specifically Medicare and Medicaid.

She is a volunteer for Maine Public Television, a Maine Medical Center School of Nursing trustee and a member of the board of directors of the CMMC Woman’s Hospital Association.

Through SeniorsPlus, Ross is a member of the Maine Medicare Education Partnership and is the Maine representative to the community advisory board of the Medicare Rights Commission.

Her topic will be “How You Can Help Deter Fraud and Abuse in Health Care.”

President Sue Stetson will preside at the meeting and lunch will be served at noon. Plans for the meeting were made at a recent board session.
