1947-2004

LEWISTON – Robert A.T. Roy, 56, a lifetime resident of Lewiston, died Saturday, Jan 24, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center after suffering a massive heart attack.

“Bob” was born in Lewiston, Dec. 15, 1947, the first of three children born to Rolande and Antonio Roy. He was educated in local schools and graduated from St. Dom’s High School in 1964.

As a member of the U.S. Army, he spent three years in Germany during the Vietnam War. While in the Army, he earned a microbiology certificate.

He married Jacqueline T. Guerrette at St. Peter’s Church in Lewiston on Jan. 4, 1968. He was employed by Central Maine Medical Center for 15 years working in the microbiology department of the laboratory from 1968 to 1985.

In 1985 he started to work for Dr. Robert Sylvester, running his laboratory.

His passion in life was his two children and four grandchildren. He was also an avid golfer and would play every chance he got. He was a member of Holy Cross Church and ran the Holy Cross Golf League for many years. Most recently he was a member of the Fox Ridge Golf Course. He was also a member of the Public Service Bowling League.

He is survived by: his wife Jackie of Lewiston; his daughter, Angela Dubuc and her husband Steve of Auburn; his son, Richard Roy and his wife Missie of Fleming Island, Fla.; his grandchildren, Brandon and Jacob Dubuc of Auburn and Caitlyn and Ellie Roy of Fleming Island, Fla.; his mother, Rolande Roy of Lewiston; his sister, Rachel Lemelin and her husband Bert of Auburn; his brother, Roger Roy of Lewiston; his aunt, Lauretta Bragg also of Lewiston; his cousin, Peter Usureau and his wife Barbara of Gorham, N.H.; many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and his faithful companion “Rusty,” the family dog.

He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Roy; and his father, Antonio.
