NORWAY – Dorothea C. Knopf, 86, of Waterford passed away on Jan. 19, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Walter and Sophia Pfaendler.
She graduated from Shore Road Academy and Columbia University in New York City. She worked at Long Island University and Seely Architects in New York City.
After her marriage to Walter T. Knopf in 1946, she became a loving and selfless housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her passions were reading, her faith, helping in the greenhouse, her antique car club, and most of all, her family. She was also a member of the First Congregational Church in Bridgton.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine Kimball; her granddaughter, Sara Kimball; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Skyler and Lily of South Waterford with whom she lived for many years.
Her love of her family was boundless, and her tireless devotion will be deeply missed. Her passing has left a void beyond any expression.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter in 1985; and her sister, Madeline Pfaendler in 1987.
