LEWISTON – A community mini-screening will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Lepage Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave. The screening is free to the public.

The sponsoring program, Take Charge!, is under the direction cardiologist Dr. Dervilla McCann. Take Charge! is managed by St. Mary’s Regional Hospital Prevention and Wellness program.

GOP women

LEWISTON – The Androscoggin County GOP Women’s Club will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at the Ramada Inn. The meeting will be followed by lunch. All Republican women and guests are invited.

Club program

AUBURN – Singer, pianist, songwriter and storyteller Mitch Thomas will present a musical program for the Auburn Art Club on Monday, Feb. 9, in the sanctuary of the High Street Congregational Church. Hostess for the 2 p.m. meeting will be Ernestine Ness, assisted by Grace Keene, Jean Hathorne and Claire White.

Thomas has been performing for more than 30 years and has been a children’s choir director at the Auburn United Methodist Church since 1984. He is music coordinator and pianist for the Saturday afternoon services.

Thomas has directed camp programs and written musicals. He is New England Conference of the United Methodist Church music director and has been in local theater productions. He teaches writing and history courses at Central Maine Community College and is communications manager for Greater Portland Big Brothers Big Sisters. He, his wife and two children live in Durham.
