AUBURN – The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College is offering a one-day seminar on “Whale Done!,” the best selling book and training program created by Ken Blanchard, world-renowned business author and management guru.

The seminar will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. Cost is $95 and includes lunch and materials. Jim Handy, business consultant and customer service trainer, will facilitate the interactive program.

The program uses a unique concept from Sea World; it shows how to develop positive relationships by using the same training techniques perfected with whales over the last 20 years.

According to Blanchard, the story evolved from his revelations during a trip to the theme park. “When I first visited SeaWorld, I marveled at the ability of the trainers to get huge killer whales – among the most feared predators in the ocean – to perform amazing acrobatic leaps and dives,” said Blanchard.

“Recognizing that continually calling out negative actions will only demoralize living beings over time, I concluded that when you’re working with people – just as with whales – that accentuating the positive and redirecting the negative are the best tools to increase productivity.”
