I went around my school and asked people the question, “If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?” Some people said that they would change their academic skills; others said they would change their athletic skills, but most told they would change something physical.

Have you ever noticed how conscientious some people are about their bodies? How some people are always commenting on how they want to be skinnier, or how their teeth aren’t straight? Some people in the United States seem like they are never happy with the way they look.

In school, girls are always worrying about their weight and how their hair looks, but why? Why should they care about what other people think? Why can’t they accept who they are? There are so many people that are hard on themselves because of the way they look. I would like for people to embrace who they are and blossom into all they can be.
