1917 – 2004

LEWISTON – Albert A. Hoffman, 87, of Old Orchard Beach and formerly of Windham, died Feb. 11, at Russell Park Manor.

Born in Portland, Feb. 2, 1917, the son of Lewis and Carrie (Quint) Hoffman, he attended Portland schools.

In 1938, he married Cora Thompson. He was an Army veteran, having served in both Germany and Korea. He worked for the Gorham School Department as a maintenance man for many years. He was a member of the VFW Post 832 of South Portland and had served as chaplain.

He married Hilda Lamontange on Aug. 9, 1969. He liked hunting, gardening and bird watching. Those who knew him will sadly miss him.

Survivors include his children, Wayne and his wife, Esther of Turner, David and his wife, Pauline of Florida, Winsor and his wife, Pauline of Sabattus and Bethany Anderson of Lewiston; stepdaughters, Claire Doiron, Joan Martell, Jean Gouzie and Carole Jordan, all of Westbrook; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by one son, Paul; his first wife, Cora; his second wife, Hilda; three sisters; and two brothers.
