AUBURN – An art contest for ages 7 and up is being sponsored by local businesses. The first-place winner in each of four divisions will receive a $100 prize.

Entrants are requested to draw a picture of a horse dressed in clothing, a concept that originated with Auburn art gallery owner Donald Bernard when he spotted the name of an upscale boutique, the Clothes Horse, on Route 4 in East Auburn.

The four categories are for ages 7 to 9, 10 to 13, 14 to 16 and 17 and older. Judging will be based on resourcefulness, imagination, originality and neatness. Applications can be obtained at the Clothes Horse, the Bernard Art Gallery on Turner Road and from art instructors in the schools.

An entrance fee of $2 is asked, which Bernard will donate to the American Heart Association. Call Bernard at 782-7739 for details.
