Dear Sun Spots: I am looking for a glass artisan, someone who could cut and polish some badly chipped, lead crystal 8-ounce tumblers. Can Sun Spots help? – B. Marquis, Livermore Falls.

Answer:
Sun Spots spoke with Alfred at Jewelery by Alfred, 770 Main St., Lewiston, (207) 782-7206 who says he offers this type of service. However, he would first need to see your glasses. Please contact him at the above number to discuss your repair needs.

Dear Sun Spots: I have been reading your column since I moved into the area during the fall of 2003. Now I am hoping you may be able to help me.

I purchased a My Twinn doll in late October 2003 for my daughter for Christmas. The doll did not live up to expectations and we returned it Jan. 2. The catalog says we have six months to return the doll for a refund. The doll was “returned to sender” Jan. 7. I called the company and they have suspended operations due to a pending Chapter 11 filing. Their Web site offered no help on what I am supposed to do if I need to return this doll. Is there a way to get my money back and return this doll even if the company is filing Chapter 11? Is there a way to dispute the cost of this doll with my credit card company? Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. – Erin Ball, Lisbon.

Answer:
According to the company’s Web site, www.mytwinn.com, they are unable to process any exchanges or refunds during their suspension of operations. The company has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and is in the process of looking for an investor. It looks like you are out of luck but Sun Spots would urge you to contact your credit card company to see if you have any recourse there.
