PARIS – The 36 Democratic Party caucus meetings held on Feb. 8 throughout Oxford County attracted record turnouts. According to county Democratic Chairwoman Cathy Newell, approximately 700 people turned out to elect delegates to the state convention, with Sen. John Kerry picking up the majority of the delegates.

A complete list of delegates as well as municipal chairpersons will be released once all forms have been submitted.

The Oxford County Democratic Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Rumford Eagles Hall for a beef stew supper, followed by a briefing on Dirigo Health by Adam Thompson of the Office of Health Policy. Anyone interested in electing Democrats in the fall is welcome to attend.

Other business will include plans for upcoming events, candidate recruitment, and plans for the state convention which will be in Portland on May 21 and 22.
