1919 – 2004

LEWISTON – Joseph L. St. Hilaire, 84, of 110 Second St., Auburn died Tuesday morning, Feb. 24, at Montello Manor following a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston on Aug. 6, 1919, the son of Joseph and Marceline (Ross) St. Hilaire and had been a resident of this community most of his life.

He was employed for many years at Pioneer Plastics until his retirement.

He was with Company E 103rd Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army in World War II having served in the Pacific Theatre of Operation at Guadalcanal, Northern Solomons, New Guinea and Luzon.

He was a member of St. Louis Church, Past Commander and lifetime member of the VFW Post 1603 and the Franco American Veterans.

Mr. St. Hilaire enjoyed fishing, swimming and going out to eat. He also loved spending his winters in Florida. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and especially his fiancé Dolores.

He is survived by his fiancé, the love of his life Dolores M. Preo of Auburn; one son, Richard St. Hilaire of Lewiston; one stepson, Clifford L. Everette and his wife Brenda of Texas; one stepdaughter, Brenda F. Gaboury of Auburn; one sister, Muriel Bishop and her husband Edward of Lewiston; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a special niece, Sandy Moreau and her husband Jim of Lewiston; several nieces and nephews.
