Dear Sun Spots: I understand that the city of Lewiston wants the Patriots to come up.

Well, I have an idea that might help. Someone or a few people should start a petition by collecting signatures for a week and then send all of those signatures to Bob Kraft, the owner of the Patriots. It just might work. – No Name, No Town.

Answer:
Sun Spots checked with Steve Sherlock in the sports department who says Lewiston’s city manager was hoping the Patriots would visit, however the Patriots had decided to return to Portland sometime in April. The decision was made two days after the team won the Super Bowl. Sherlock says that when the Patriots visited the six New England states after winning the Super Bowl two years ago, the largest crowd to greet them, apart from Boston’s, was in Portland.

Also, Sports Editor Kalle Oakes says this city sent the Patriots an official invitation, essentially begging them to stop in Lewiston. It’s unlikely to happen but worth collecting signatures. You just never know!

Dear Sun Spots: I would like to go to Sarasota, Fla., by train. How do I got about it? Where do I get my information? Thank you so much. Keep up the good work. – D.G., Lewiston.

Answer:
Contact Amtrak at (800) 872-7245 or online at www.amtrak.com. Sun Spots checked their Web site and located a train trip from Portland to Boston’s North Station; Boston North Station to Boston Back Bay; Boston Back Bay to Penn Station in New York City; Penn Station to Orlando, Fla., (following an approximate five-hour wait); and, from Orlando to Sarasota. The rail fare appears to be $241, according to the Web site, but I would confirm this with Amtrak in case taxes and other fees apply.

Dear Sun Spots: As an avid rug hooker, I am always looking for 100 percent wool fabric.

For my latest project, I need the blue wool Air Force uniforms from the Korean War era, circa 1950s. Please check your attics, sheds, trunks, etc., and let’s negotiate.
