PORTLAND – Noted Paris businessman Bob Bahre has begun therapy and is recovering nicely, according to a spokesman for the family.

“He’s in the recovery process and of course it’s going to take some time,” said Ron Meade, spokesman for Bahre’s New Hampshire International Speedway. “He’s proceeding, as I understand it, very well.”

Meade, because of the family’s wishes for confidentiality, could not say if Bahre had been released from the Maine Medical Center or if he was participating in a rehabilitation program there.

He said the rehabilitation is at a facility in Portland.

Meade said Bahre broke his ankle, injured ribs and a vertebra, and had a concussion when he drive off the road in January in Brownfield.

Bahre was on is way home from the speedway when the crash occurred.

“It’s a pretty tough incident, but he’s a pretty tough individual,” Meade said. “And fortunately, he had his seat belt on and his Chevy Blazer did its job.”

Meade said he couldn’t estimate when Bahre would be back to work. He expected that there would be a rehabilitation period after therapy.

“But it’s a doctor’s decision then,” Meade said.
