1921 – 2004

FARMINGTON – Helen A. Whittemore, 82, of Wilton, died late Saturday evening, Feb. 28, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

She was born in Berlin, N.H., July 3, 1921, a daughter of Joseph and Mary (Lesko) Vallo and received her education in Berlin schools. On Nov. 15, 1941, she married Erland R. Whittemore in Norway.

Mrs. Whittemore was employed at Forster Manufacturing Company in Wilton for many years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Wilton Senior Citizens and she enjoyed knitting and crocheting, having made numerous afghans and mittens for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going shopping and attending local dances. She will be remembered for always wearing pretty necklaces.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Erland of Wilton; 2 daughters, Earline Frost and her husband Bruce of Wilton and Janet Rackliff and her husband Dennis of East Dixfield; one brother, Joseph Vallo of Bridgeport, Conn.; six grandchildren, Brian Rackliff and his wife Beth of Livermore, Blaine Rackliff and his wife Chanda of East Dixfield, Beckie Real and her companion Tim Souther of Wilton, Bruce Frost and his wife Eleana of Bellevue, Neb., Karen Frost and her comapnion Sarah St. Pierre of Brunswick, and James Frost and his wife Lori of Ft. Collins, Colo., and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by an infant son, James and a sister Mary Corkum of Locke Mills.
