LEWISTON – The Rev. Kevin J. Martin, who serves as the parochial vicar for the Auburn Catholic community and works as an assistant in the vocations office for the Diocese of Port land, will speak at the Lenten Lecture and Luncheon series after the noon Mass, Wednesday, March 3, at St. Joseph’s Church. All are welcome.

Past presidents

AUBURN – The Frank W. Hulett Chapter, VFW, Auxiliary Past Presidents Club will meet Wednesday, March 3, at the home of Ellen Broas.

The members met at the home of Joan Hebert on Feb. 4 when they discussed the 75th anniversary of the post. All were asked to bring suggestions for decorations and ideas for the celebration at the Wednesday meeting.

Rotary session

LEWISTON – The speaker at the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club meeting on Thursday, March 4, will be Dawna Hannan, director of human resources and regulatory affairs for Oxford Networks.

The session will be held at noon at the Ramada Inn, and anyone interested in the program or in knowing more about Rotary is invited. Cost of the luncheon is $7.

Grange birthday

POLAND – Excelsior Grange 5 will celebrate its 130th anniversary on Saturday, March 6.

A luncheon will be served at noon and a meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Members and friends are welcome.

Hummel chapter

LEWISTON – The Nor’Easter Maine Chapter, M.I. Hummel Club, will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, March 8, at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St. Visitors are welcome.

Jump for heart

LEWISTON – Students of Martel, Montello, Farwell and Longley Elementary schools will participate in a two-week Jump Rope for Heart starting Monday, March 8.

Physical education teachers, Fred Royer, Jim Hood and Roland Trottier will hand out certificates and stickers to students who participate. All funds collected will benefit the American Heart Association. The public is invited to sponsor the jump rope program.
