WOODSTOCK – The 45-foot by 75-foot addition to the town’s fire station is now complete with the exception of the electrical work and interior partitions, which should be finished in the next two months, said Town Manager Vern Maxfield Tuesday.

The concrete floor was poured, smoothed and sealed early this week by local contractor Marty Morgan, “and that leaves just the wiring, completion of the interior partitions, and installation of the furnace and generator for the project to be complete,” Maxfield added.

He also said that he expects the furnace will be installed before the end of this week.

When completed the addition will more than double the size of the station and make room for a meeting room, furnace and generator room, dispatcher’s office and kitchen. With the generator installed it will then be possible to power the entire town office, garage and fire station complex in case of emergencies.

Asked by Selectman Leon Poland if there was enough money to take care of the wiring, Maxfield answered, “No. The account is cleaned out right now. We will need the $10,000 we are asking for at town meeting March 29 to cover the wiring.”

The interior partitions are being done by the firemen and money for that part of the project is coming from the regular fire department building maintenance account.

The fire trucks have been stored in the old Maine Department of Transportation garage on Route 232 in Pinhook during the construction, and the department will be able to move them back to the station in about 10 days.

The cost of the project to date has totaled $130,000.
