LEWISTON – To celebrate African-American History Month, Carmen Dufresne and Judi Albert’s fourth-graders at Pettingill School researched and made posters of African-Americans who reflected a wide range of educational, artistic, historical and professional expertise.

To enhance the celebration, students also wrote research papers, caption bubbles for their posters and summaries for their New Hampshire pen pals. They presented oral reports to parents attending the presentations.

Forty students participated, making it possible to display 40 posters in the hallways of Pettingill during February.
