AUBURN – Cub Scout Pack 153, sponsored by the New Auburn American Legion Post 153, held the annual blue and gold banquet recently.

Auburn Fire Chief Wayne Werts spoke on the importance of Scouting and the good job they are doing. Assistant Chief Cam Martin gave the blessing before the buffet.

Post 153 Commander Emmett Stuart received two charters. The Scout charter was presented by Scoutmaster Ronald Poulin and the Cub charter by Cub Unit Commissioner Edith Lemieux. Scout District Executive Matthew Moyer spoke on Scouting and his experience.

American Legion Department of Maine Americanism Chairwoman Irene Ervine of Topsham presented a display of older flags. Each flag was carried in by the Scouts as Ervine read the history. Department of Maine musician Terry Owen led in singing “God Bless America.”

Cubs crossing over from Webelos to Scouts were Kyle Pellerin and Carter Innes. Many awards were presented.

The Cubs are preparing for their Pinewood Derby and will build their own cars from kits.
