STRONG – The Strong Nursing Home announces Brenda Hill, RN, as Employee of the Month for January, and Sandra Maccarrone, RN, as Employee of the Month for February.

Hill is the assistant director of nursing and has worked at the facility for five years. She is recognized for her cheerful attitude, pleasant smile and a quiet hello or good morning.

Nursing home spokeswoman Paul Varney says, “I have often heard her say how lucky she is to work with such caring people – they care about the residents and they care about each other.”

Hill also says how much the residents mean to her. Having a resident smile just makes her day, she says.

Hill lives in Avon with her husband and youngest son. Three older children are out on their own. The two oldest sons are serving in the military in Iraq. She enjoys spending lots of time with her three grandsons.

Maccarrone is the day charge nurse on weekends and has been with the facility for 1 years. She also worked at the nursing home back in 1996. She is described as being cool, calm and collected, never letting anything get her rattled.

A resident of Temple, Maccarrone has two grown children, a son in Cleveland and a daughter in Bar Harbor. In her spare time she enjoys poetry, painting and working with children. She also has a love for children’s books and has had some aspirations of writing a children’s book.

Maccarrone says it is the people who live at Strong Nursing Home and her co-workers that make it a fun place to work. She snickered when she said, “It’s really for all the parties we have.” Co-workers surprised her twice with parties around her birthday.
