RUMFORD – The Rumford Eagles Club has given $1,000 to the Rumford Hospital Annual Appeal again this year.

“Several local clubs have responded generously to our appeal,” says Barbara Belanger, hospital auxiliary president and member of its development committee, “and the Eagles have been very generous for several years in a row.”

Being able to anticipate yearly gifts from community organizations, as well as individuals, helps the hospital plan its capital equipment budget each year, she explains.

At the end of February, the appeal stood at slightly more than $30,000 on the way to its goal of $50,000. “We’re very pleased with the response from our community so far,” says Belanger, “but we still have a long way to go to meet our goal so that we can purchase all the equipment and renovate for an expanded Oncology Suite.”

A second appeal letter will go out in March to people on the mailing list who have not yet given. People who have not received a letter may call the hospital’s Community Relations and Development office at 369-1143 to request a mailing.
