1924 – 2004

FALMOUTH – Robert S. Sawyer of South Bridgton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 18, at the Sedgewood Commons Health Care Facility, where he had resided for the past 9 months.

He was born in South Bridgton, on May 17, 1924, the son of Alan Ingalls Sawyer and Laura Spencer Sawyer and attended local schools.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948 in the Pacific Ocean and was honorably discharged as a Fireman First Class.

For many years he was a self employed Carpenter in the Bridgton area. He also worked in the store maintenance department of Jordan Marsh in South Portland, and also at Computervision in Manchester, N.H. He retired in 1989 and built a home in South Bridgton.

He was a devoted member of the Masonic Temple in Bridgton for over 40 years.

He enjoyed fishing, feeding birds, going for car rides and was also known to do a woodworking project and give it to family or friends that he enjoyed spending time with. He was a proud father of 4 children and will be sadly missed.

He is survived by a daughter, Pamela J. Sawyer of Fryeburg; sons, Scot M. Sawyer of Raleigh, N.C. and Dean R. and his wife, Melinda Sawyer of Ashburn, Va. and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Alton W. in 1975 and a daughter, Martha Michniewicz in 1983.
