OXFORD – David Ivey believes he has the experience to take what he has learned as a selectman and put it to good use as a state representative from District 100.

Ivey is in his second term as selectmen, having served as chairman of the board last year.

He said will run a clean election campaign as a Democrat, having the backing of the Democratic Party in Oxford County and in the state of Maine.

Ivey, 45, is running as a Democrat for the seat being vacated by Ted Heidrich, who is prohibited from running again because of term limits.

Ivey grew up in the Oxford Hills, attending Oxford Hills High School and the University of Maine at Presque Isle. He is also taking courses as St. Joseph’s College in Windham.

Ivey has no opposition in the June primary and will face Republican Jim Hamper in the November elections.

Ivey said he has an active interest in educational issues. He is president of the Oxford Hills Athletic Boosters and a longtime youth coach in Oxford. He still coaches track for the Poland Panthers Track Club in Poland.

He is also known as one of the voices of WOXO Viking basketball.

David and his wife, Anne, live on the Whittemore Road and have been married 22 years. They have a daughter, Amanda, 16.

District 100 comprises Oxford, Otisfield and Mechanic Falls.
