OXFORD – Cub Scouts of Pack 196 held a Pinewood Derby on March 20 as family and friends cheered them on.
“Racing Joe Legion,” aka Joe Bernard, charter representative from Post 112, was the track announcer. Troop Master Clarence Newton, Assistant Pat Downing and Boy Scouts Nate Montgomery, Josh Dill, Roland Young, Matt Witham and brothers Ben, Zack and Greg Downing of Troop 196 were the race officials.
Racers placing in the first five positions will advance to the Abnaki District Race on Saturday, April 3, at Central Maine Community College in Auburn.
Race results were as follows: first, Justin Cummings; second, Dan Lewis; third, Jonathan Adley; fourth, Dakota Walker; fifth, Ben Dill; and alternate, Bruce Young.
Also, best in show, Justin Cummings; most unique, Kane Williamson; and sportsmanship, Bruce Young.
