NORWAY – Oxford Chapter 168, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold installation of officers on Thursday, April 1, at the Masonic Temple. A 6:30 p.m. supper will follow the meeting. All OES members are invited.

Grand Conductress Norma Crabtree will be the installing matron and Worthy Grand Patron, William Stretton, installing patron.

Officers to be installed will be Ann Bickford, worthy matron; John Raymond, worthy patron; Hazel Raymond, associate matron; Philip Perkins, associate patron; Edlene Winslow, secretary; Maxine Perkins, treasurer; Kathleen McAllister, conductress; Clara Hamlin, associate conductress; Joyce Gouin, chaplain; Evelyn Cotton, marshal; Beverly Cobb, Adah; Cynthia Hamlin, Ruth; Elsie Pechnik, Esther; Pat Dixon, Martha; Barbara Robinson, Electa; James Perkins, warder; and Frances Perkins, sentinel.

Palm Sunday

NORWAY – The Palm Sunday message is titled “Palm Sunday: the Calm Before a Storm: Having More Control Over Our Storms” on April 4 at the UCC Church. Worship services will begin at 11 a.m., led by the Rev. Joy Gasta, with Music Director Heather Pierson and the choir.

Religious education will start at 11:15 a.m. Children attend the first part of the service with their parents. A coffee social will follow the service. All are welcome. The church is located at 479 Main St.

Supper meeting

FRYEBURG – The regular supper meeting of the Fryeburg Fish and Game Association Inc. will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 5, at the Church of New Jerusalem. There will be a celebration of the association’s 30th anniversary. Following the anniversary celebration and business meeting, Chris Burnell of Hiram, a registered Maine guide, will discuss turkey hunting in Maine. He will show a video he made last year before and during the turkey hunting season.

Guests of members are invited to attend the supper. A contribution of $7 will be accepted. Non-members may attend after 7:30 p.m. to hear Burnell’s presentation. The public is welcome and reservations should be made by calling 935-4655.

Bridge play

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge met March 26 when players from as far as Lewiston-Auburn and Conway, N.H., were welcomed.

Winners for the morning were: first, Martine Begert and Les Buzzell; second, Mike and Pat Quinn; third, David Lock and Jeanine Kivus. Bill Bowman and Don Johnson were winners in Section B, with Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer coming in second.
