LEWISTON – The Rev. Frank J. Murray will speak at the final Wednesday noon Lenten lecture series on Wednesday, April 7, at St. Joseph’s Church Parish Hall.

Murray will discuss “The Easter Triduum” after the noon Mass. The mysteries of redemption are celebrated each year beginning with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday and concluding with Vespers on Easter Sunday.

All are invited lecture and luncheon.

Murray is assigned to the Auburn Catholic Community as pastor of St. Philip’s, Sacred Heart and St. Louis parishes. He is also the vocation director for the Diocese of Portland and is the Roman Catholic chaplain for Bates College.

Murray has served as chaplain at Maine Medical Center in Portland and chaplain at the Newman Center at the University of Maine in Orono. Most recently, he served as pastor of St. Mary’s Parish in Bangor.

Rotary speaker

LEWISTON – Dr Amir Modaressi of St Mary’s Regional Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders will be the speaker at the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club meeting at noon on Thursday, April 8. The club will meet at noon at the Ramada Inn. Anyone interested in the program or in knowing more about Rotary is invited. The cost of the luncheon is $8.

Degrees slated

WALES – Webster Lodge 164, AF and AM, will hold a special communication on Thursday, April 8, at the Grange Hall, 322 Centre Road.

Work of the evening will be in the Entered Apprentice Degree on two candidates. Masonic members and honored guests will have supper at 6:30 p.m. followed by the degree work at 7:30.

LEWISTON – Lewiston Emblem Club 528 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at the Lewiston Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon St. All members are encouraged to attend.

AUBURN – Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at the Masonic Hall 1021 Turner St. A potluck supper will be served at 6:15. The chapter has the traveling emblem for District 4. All Eastern Star members are invited.

Senior college

LEWISTON – The Senior College “Food for Thought” luncheon lecture series on Tuesday, April 13, at L/A College will feature Dorothy Prince in a program titled “Experiences of a Foreign Service Wife.”

Prince, now an Auburn resident, served for three decades with her U.S. diplomat husband in a number of foreign cities and capitals. Her presentation will cover her role and involvement in the overseas postings.

The program will be held at noon in the Community Room at L/A College on Westminster Street. The cost is $5, which includes a lunch, and is open to everyone. Call 753-6510 by Monday, April 12, for reservations.

Breastfeeding

AUBURN – Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are welcome to a La Leche League meeting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 8, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are welcome.
