PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (AP) – A Vermont man faces charges of criminal trespass and attempted sexual abuse after sneaking into the bedrooms of three female college students Monday morning.

Police said Inssa Mane, 27, first entered an apartment around 3:30 a.m., while a female student was sleeping. She ran out of the apartment once she saw him in her room.

Three hours later, officials say the Windsor, Vt., resident entered a second apartment, and got into bed with a sleeping female student.

When the woman awoke, Mane told her he had a weapon but did not want to hurt her and asked her to perform a sexual act.

She elbowed him in the stomach and fled.

Just before 11 a.m., Mane returned to the first apartment, where another student found him in her bedroom. Police said Mane told the student he was looking for someone.

The third woman called police, who quickly found Mane.

“This could have been very bad, and people need to know these types of things can happen here,” Police Chief Desmond Racicot said.

Mane was charged with second-degree burglary, first-degree attempted sexual abuse, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, three counts of second-degree criminal trespass, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. He was being held in Clinton County Jail without bail.
