NORWAY – Alice S. Smith, 90, of Norway died Monday, April 12, at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center.

She was born in Norway on July 9, 1913, the daughter of George G. and Anna M. Gondream LaFrance. She was valedictorian of Norway High School Class of 1931. She was employed by the U.S. Treasury Dept. in Washington, D.C. She married Lawrence M. Smith, he passed away in February of 1992.

While raising her children she helped her husband open and operate several area drug stores. She was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Norway.

She is survived by two sons, Glenwood of Norway and Alan of S. Attleboro, Mass.; three grandchildren, Michael Smith of Roxbury, Karen Tibbetts and her husband Allen of Roxbury and Larry Smith and his wife June of Dixfield; a great-granddaughter, Jennifer Smith of Dixfield; and a brother, Dolor LaFrance of Wallingford, Conn.

She was predeceased by a brother, Francis LaFrance.
