Ballroom dance
LEWISTON – A ballroom dance practice will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, April 16, in the Multi-Purpose Center cafeteria, 145 Birch St. Anyone interested is invited to watch or dance. Cost is $5 a person, and there will be refreshments. Barbara Charles of the American Ballroom Dance Academy will be available to answer questions.
Rebekah Lodge
AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, April 19, at the Odd Fellows Hall, 50 Elm St. The program will be celebration of the 185th anniversary of Odd Fellowship in North America and support for the Mother Hubbard project of the Rebekah Assembly president.

Members are asked to turn in their tabulation of volunteer hours and mileage from January through March and to bring in spring clothing to contribute to the Court Street Baptist Church Clothes Cupboard.
VFW to elect
LISBON – VFW Post 9459 and Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the post home, Route 196. All members are invited, and new members are welcome. The agenda will include nomination and election of officers, upcoming events and the yearly cleanup. Call 353-5291 after 3 p.m. for details.
Seniors dinner
AUBURN – First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, at Hasty Community Center, Pettengill Park. Members should take their table utensils and cups for the lasagna dinner. Tickets will be sold for the May 5 anniversary dinner at the Martindale Country Club at a cost of $6. Bingo will be played following the lasagna meal.

On April 7 Pat Donahue volunteered to serve as chaplain, replacing M.E. Allen, who was recently deceased.

Loretta Martin of the Auburn Recreation Department announced trips she is planning, including Friday afternoon matinees at the Arundel Playhouse and a trip to Portland to hear the Glenn Miller Orchestra on Saturday, May 22. Sign-up by April 30 is required.

Joyce Poole, trip chairwoman, announced a day trip to Fairpoint and an evening trip to the Carousel Theater in Boothbay Harbor. She reported that there are 25 travelers going to Prince Edward Island for five days in June.

Members having birthdays were recognized. Attendance winners were Letha Haggerty and Carola Randall; pot of gold, Ginny Gagne, Mary Tassanari and Jim Lutz. A boiled dinner was held after the meeting.
St. Anne Sodality
LEWISTON – The Ladies of St. Anne Sodality of Holy Family Parish will hold a general meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, in the church hall. There will be election of officers and counselors for the year 2004-2005, and remaining officers will be reinstated.

Senior members reaching 70 years will be honored with life membership certificates, and new members will be installed.

Guest speaker will be Sandy Fletcher and her subject, “Dieting on Low Carbohydrates.” Refreshments will be served.

Celebrates 90
LEWISTON – Fernande Ouellette Langelier of Lewiston celebrated her 90th birthday on March 21. She was surrounded by her four sons: Gerald, Robert, Roger and George.

Also attending the celebration were a number of close friends and family. There were more than 100 people attending the gala occasion. The masters of ceremony were Pauline Langelier and Fernande’s son, Robert.
