PORTLAND – A Minot toddler remained in critical condition Saturday night at the Maine Medical Center after being struck by a truck in his yard.

The accident happened Friday while the toddler, Tristan Ledwell, 3, was playing near the front of his 325 Pottle Hill Road when his father, Todd Ledwell, backed up the truck, knocking over the boy.

The father was doing yard work and was using the truck to move brush. “He was watching his son and the boy was off to the side. The father looked away just for a second and that’s all it took,” Androscoggin County Sgt. James Jacques said Friday.

It was believed the toddler suffered a head injury when struck.
