LEWISTON – Russell Chase, 85, a resident of Leeds, died Friday, April 16, at Central Maine Medical Center following a long illness.
He was born April 14, 1919, in New Gloucester, the son of Minnie Mott Chase Pitts. He attended school in New Gloucester.
He married Theresa Parker on Sept. 16, 1948, in Poland Springs.
He was an asphalt plant engineer for 26 years with the Lane Construction Company, Manchester, N.H. division.
He was a member of the Ashlar Lodge #105 A.F. & A.M. and the Kora Temple Shriners. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed hunting, fishing, local agricultural fairs, stock car races and blue grass festivals.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years; one daughter, Margo Hammond Given of San Antonio, Texas; two grandsons; four great-grandsons; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one son, Michael Chase, in 1996.
