LEWISTON – Maine Public Broadcasting announces Jim Lester of Westport as the recipient of its Volunteer of the Year 2004 Award.

Lester has volunteered for Maine Public Radio and the Great TV Auction for more than 10 years. During membership campaigns for Maine Public Radio, Lester is up well before dawn so he can report for duty at the Portland studio by 6 a.m.

When he is not involved with radio fundraising, Lester assists the auction staff by picking up items that have been donated throughout the state. He travels nearly 2,000 miles each year making stops and delivering the items to the Lewiston studio.
