FARMINGTON – Stanley Donald Nightingale Sr., 68, of New Sharon, died early Wednesday evening, April 21, at the Sandy River Center for Health Care.

He was born Dec. 26, 1935, in New Sharon, a son of Herbert and Methel (Mitchell) Nightingale. He attended and graduated from New Sharon schools.

In 1959, he married Edith Webber. Mr. Nightingale served four years in the United States Navy and later worked at G.H. Bass in Wilton as a hand sewer. He went on to work at Farmington Farmers Union in Farmington where he was employed for 28 years and came to enjoy very much the customers in which he served.

He also enjoyed the time he spent coaching Little League baseball, hunting, fishing, and working in the woods.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary-lou Mooar and her husband, Anthony of New Sharon; two sons, Ricky Nightingale and his wife, Debbie of Wilton and Stanley Nightingale Jr. and his girlfriend, Patsy Pond of New Sharon; a sister, Donna Lane and her husband, William of New Sharon; two brothers, Leslie Nightingale and his wife, Dixie of New Sharon and Carol Nighingale and his wife, Linda of Patten; six grandchildren, Tory and Anthony Mooar, Malinda, Matt, Jeremy, and Chris Nightingale; a special caregiver, Sherry Storer. He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Cranton.
