LEWISTON – Rebuilding Together Lewiston-Auburn is seeking volunteer labor for its third annual rebuilding day on Saturday, May 1

Plumbers, electricians, carpenters and other experienced contractors are invited to volunteer their services. Unskilled volunteers are also encouraged to donate their time to help with the projects.

Rebuilding Together has committed to renovating eight area residences. It is the largest undertaking ever by the nonprofit affiliate.

“From leaky roofs to leaky faucets, Rebuilding Together L/A will be out in force to improve local homes and neighborhoods,” said Michael Grimmer, president of the affiliate. “We hope to hear from many volunteers interested in investing time and labor into our growing community.”

The affiliate provides free home repairs to those who lack the ability, either financially or physically, to perform the work on their own. Projects generally focus on correcting home safety issues, yet aesthetic improvements are often included.

Rebuilding Together works to make a sustainable impact in partnership with the communities where volunteers serve. The volunteers, with the help of national and local sponsors and product and material donors, work to ensure that low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly and disabled and families with children, live in warmth, safety and independence.
