AUBURN – Five camps will be offered this summer by the Auburn Parks and Recreation Department: kindergarten, grades one and two, grades three and four, grades five and six and grades seven and eight.

For youths entering kindergarten through grade eight, the camp will offer five days a week of structured recreational activities from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for seven weeks at one price.

The camp takes place in five locations, one for each of the grade groups offered, with transportation provided from several sites throughout the city. Children may arrive at the pick-up sites and/or their home camp location as early as 7:45 a.m. and they may stay as late as 5:15 p.m.

For four days each week, the program remains at the home location where participants will take part in a variety of organized activities, games and arts and crafts. One day each week the participants will be transported to the Auburn Municipal Beach, where they will participate in organized activities and swimming.

Also, one day each week will be a special event/excursion day, during which participants will either attend an in-town event or an out-of-town excursion. The camp is an open program. Participants may attend for half a day one week and every day the next.

Weekly registrations will be allowed for those who do not need a multi-week program for the summer. Enrollment is limited for seasonal and weekly registrations and Auburn residents will be given priority through May 31. Starting June 1, registrations will be open to anyone interested based on availability.

Payment plans are available. Registrations will be accepted until June 16. The program will run from June 21 to Aug. 6; the fee for Auburn residents is $215 or $90 a week; the fee for non-residents is $315 or $115 a week.

Registrations, and checks payable to the Auburn Rec. Dept., may be mailed to Auburn Parks and Recreation Department, 48 Pettengill Park, Auburn, ME 04210.
