PARIS – Silver Moore-Leamon will be the speaker at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., Sunday, May 9.

The service will begin at 10 a.m. and Moore-Leamon’s topic will be “Spinning Our Wheels,” during which she will talk “about making changes and how when we get stuck in the mud in the spring we first have to stop doing what we’ve been doing, that is spinning our wheels, before we can figure out another way to get out of the mud.”

The music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, church organist. The organ voluntaries will begin at 9:50. Sunday school will be in session and child care will be provided. The Coffee Hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Blood drive

BRIDGTON – The American Red Cross bloodmobile will be at the Masonic Hall, Route 117, from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 17, for a blood drive sponsored by the Masons. Call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE to make an appointment.

Benefit event

OXFORD – A benefit supper and concert will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Grace Fellowship Church.

Proceeds will go to Bill and Phyllis Barker of Buckfield. Phyllis recently suffered a heart attack and the couple are unable to afford insurance and the escalating cost of medication. the

The menu will be ham, raisin sauce, mashed potatoes, carrots and peas, homemade rolls, and homemade pies. The cost will be $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

The concert will consist of a variety of singers, featuring Theresa Foye of Pittston, Joyce Lewis of South Berwick, Jane Parquet of Waterville and Ed O’Brien and group of Gorham.

Help soldiers

WEST PARIS – A group of residents met at the town hall to stuff envelopes with photos, sporting magazines and local news clippings of interest to six area men serving in Iraq. The group will need toiletries next time. For more information call 674-2114.

Used boat sale

NAPLES – The Naples Scholarship Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in 1955, grants scholarships to Naples residents going on to further their education. Last year seven $500 scholarships were rewarded to Naples high school graduates.

Residents are asked to consider a tax-deductible gift to the foundation’s annual used boat sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 5, on the Naples Causeway.

NSF is requesting donations of used boats and boat-related items to be sold that day. All proceeds will go toward the scholarships. Call Bob Chase at 693-6082 to learn more and/or schedule donation.
