DIXFIELD – Charles N. Wright, 83, of Dixfield, died Tuesday evening, May 11, at his home with his family by his side.

“Charlie” was born Dec. 24, 1920, in Colchester, Vt., a son of Merritt and Beryl (Smith) Wright. He was educated in Vermont schools and graduated from Burlington High School.

On May 21, 1940, he married Marguerite Loop. They were together 48 years at the time of her death on July 31, 1988.

He moved to Maine from Chelmsford, Mass., to be manager of H.P. Hoods of Rumford. He later started his own business, Wright’s Dairy. Since choosing Dixfield as his new home, he had been a lifetime member of the Poodunk Snowmobile Club with the honor of having a bridge dedicated to him.

He was also a longtime member of the Oakdale Golf Club. He enjoyed the outdoors very much and through the years did his share of hunting, fishing, and keeping busy gardening. He retired in 1982.

He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by a son, Chuck and his wife Alice of Dixfield; a daughter, Cindy Coulombe and her husband Gerard of Dixfield; five grandchildren, Pam Puiia, Debbie Wright, Gary Wright, Jacie Child, and Trinity Wilson all of Dixfield; nine great-grandchildren all of Dixfield; a sister, Thelma Litchfield of Burlington, Vt.; several nieces and nephews; close friends, David Saphier and his wife, Debbie.

He was predeceased by a brother, Babe.
