LEWISTON – Paul A. Cote, 72, of 86 Summit Ave., Lewiston, died Monday evening, May 10, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, following a long illness.

Born in Lewiston, Jan. 21, 1932, the son of Arthur and Alma (Gagnon) Cote, he had been a resident of this community all of his life. He attended local schools and St. Dominic Regional High School.

He served with the Lewiston National Guard from 1949 to 1958 with the 2nd Battalion of the 103rd Infantry. He married the former Jeanne T. Osgood on May 31, 1952.

He was employed as a tailor for many years at Leblanc’s Clothing Store, Robert Hall and Anderson Little. He was a member of Holy Cross Church.

Mr. Cote loved planting flowers in his garden, cooking and especially enjoyed his annual swim in his pool on the Fourth of July. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeanne Cote of Lewiston; one son, Daniel Cote and his wife, Denise of Auburn; one twin sister, Pauline Gagnon and her husband, Don of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Scott and Angela Cote, both of Auburn; several cousins; and his dog, Peanut.
