LEWISTON – The 12th annual Festival de Joie will kick off with Prelude 2004 on July 27 with a concert performed by the “Just Us” entertainers at the Franco American Heritage Center at St. Mary’s.

Events will continues July 28 on Lisbon Street with official opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. followed at 7 by a parade. There will be live entertainment, sidewalk cafes, vendors, crafters and street dancing, which will continue from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on July 29. The festival will be held on July 30, 31 and Aug. 1 at Railroad Park.

The success of the festival is due in large part to the volunteers who make the event work efficiently. The Festival Committee is looking for individuals or groups interested in participating in the parade, crafters, vendors or entertainers for the prelude and especially volunteers to assist with the festival.

A special volunteer meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, May 17, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 150 East Ave. Volunteers are invited to register and get involved with the multi-cultural festival.
