OXFORD – The Oxford County Education Association Retired will meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 21, at the Oxford American Legion Hall for a plant sale to help the scholarship fund and to provide some fun for those attending.

The group used to be known as the Oxford County Retired Teachers Association, but now has been opened up for membership to any retired teacher, secretary, nurse, librarian, school nurse, custodian, lunch worker, administrator or person who retired from employment in the schools in Oxford County. Dues are $5 a year. The meetings are held in different towns during the year, except for winter.

The dinner follows the 11 a.m. business meeting and the cooks need to know how many to plan on. Those who joined earlier are contacted by a phone chain, but anyone planning to attend for the first time will need to call either Jean Boyd (336-2711) of Marguerite Johnson (743-6503). The dinner usually costs $6 or $7 and is served before the program.

Rodney Abbott will conduct the next program on “Maine Poetry.”

Those attending are asked to bring some potted houseplants or potted plant that can be transplanted to someone’s garden. The sales of the plants will help three students planning to attend college.
