LISBON – State Rep. Robert A. Berube of Lisbon will seek a second term, again running as a Clean Election candidate. Berube represents District 84.

“As a first-term member of the Business, Research and Development Committee, I have had the opportunity to help lay the foundation for changes to strengthen business in the Lisbon area,” said Berube.

But much more remains to be done, he said.

Among the bills he has actively co-sponsored are involving the enhancement of Pine Tree Development Zones, establishing the Maine Community College System, phasing out the tax on business equipment, and enhancing cooperation, communication and tax equity among state, county and local governments.

He said a significant measure of his pro-business, pro-jobs advocacy is through the ratings issued by the Maine Economic Research Institute. The nonpartisan group’s approval rating of Berube was 83.5 percent. The rating is a positive reflection of his commitment to local businesses such as Celotex, Bradco Chair and Dingley Press, and to his constituency in general, he said.

“Continuing my active role in creating an attractive business environment over the long haul is one of my highest priorities. My roots run deep in my district and in my state,” Berube said. “Creating an atmosphere that will enable a vibrant economy is of the utmost importance.”

District 84, due to recent redistricting, will become District 104, which will be more inclusive of the town of Lisbon.
