FARMINGTON – Colon E. Heath of New Vineyard, passed quietly away with his family near on May 16, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, after a long battle with bronchiectasis.

Born in Phillips, Aug. 22, 1920, the eldest child of Everett R. and Anna B. Heath, he was educated in New Vineyard and Farmington schools, but dropped out of high school to go to work.

He was a veteran of World War II and was stationed overseas. At the end of the war, he returned home and met and married Martha Nile on Feb. 9, 1946.

He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, listening to Glenn Miller music and spending time with his family. In earlier and healthier years, he worked in the woods, worked in various factories in the area, went fishing and hunting, went dancing with his wife and friends, played the spoons at parties and enjoyed laughing and joking with his family. His sense of humor remained to the last.

Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca Atwood and her partner, Gordon ; his son, Colon S. and his wife, Ida, Lloyd G., Peter J. and his wife, Angela, Everette O. and his wife, Baza and Christ D.; their children, grandchildren and extended families; three sisters, Katherine Norton, Norma Nile and Marjorie Howard; one brother, Paul and his wife, Mabel; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Martha; an infant daughter, Pamela; and three sisters, Virginia Davenport, Elaine Bradley and Joyce Heath.
