RUMFORD – Rumford Hospital recently honored its volunteers and Auxiliary members at a luncheon. Volunteer hours totaled 3,263 since May last year.

Following the luncheon, Auxiliary President Barbara Belanger noted how important volunteers are to the hospital.

CEO John Welsh informed the volunteers about the building program that will provide a more accessible hospital entrance and more privacy for Emergency Department patients. Director of Nursing Jane Aube explained the expansion of the Oncology Unit and displayed its floor plan.

Each volunteer received a small gift, and the nine volunteers with the most recorded hours of service got a special thank-you from Welsh.

Effie Waite served 617 hours over the last year; Sylvia Arsenault, 325; Rose Reed, 265; Pat Hopkins, 219; Jean Tyler, 176; Claudia Marcellino, 164; Lillian Irish, 135; and Sonja Robinson, 119. The several Mormon elders who have given time to the hospital donated 207.
